School of Physical Education

The School of Physical Education was founded in 1951 with the name PE Music and Art Teaching and Research Section of Anyang Teachers’ College.  In 1988£¬ the Section of Physical Education of Anyang Teachers’ College was founded and in 1989 it was renamed Department of Physical Education of Anyang Teachers’ College. Then in 2000, it was combined with the PE Teaching and Research Sections of the former Anyang Educational College and the Second Teachers’ College of Anyang and was named Department of Physical Education of Anyang Teachers’ College. In 2001, it was renamed Department of Physical Education and Science. In 2007 the School of Physical Education was established. The school now has under it Human Body Science Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Provincial Level, Physical Education Research Institute and Lab, as well as five teaching and research sections£¬ namely Basic Theories Teaching and Research Section, Track and Field Teaching and Research Section, Balls Teaching and Research Section, Physical Education Teaching and Research Section, Martial Art and Gymnastics Teaching£¬ and Research Section, as well as Public Physical Education Teaching and Research Section. Theories and Methodology of Martial Art has been approved as one of the first key subjects of the University and Physical Education has been approved as the Feature Specialty of University level.

The school now has a teaching staff of 63 people, among them there are 6 professors, 21 associate professors, 26 lectures, 1 supervisor of postgraduate, and 36 with master’s degrees, 1 Teacher of Enormous Assess of provincial level, and 1 Leading Academic Scholar of Provincial level. There are over 600 students on campus. Many teachers have won various competitions or launched more than 10 projects of state or provincial level. Over 100 theses and textbooks and 480 academic teaching and research papers have been published.

There are two graduate specialties, namely Physical Education and Social Physical Education in the school.
The aim of the Physical Education Specialty is to cultivate PE teachers with a high level of cultural and scientific qualification fully developed morally, intellectually and physically.
The main courses are Anthroponomy, Athletic Physiology, School Physical Education, Physical Psychology, Physical Hagiology, Sports Biochemistry, PE Management, PE Research Methodology, Introduction to PE£¬PE Statistics, Theories ofSport Training£¬ Theories of Health Education, Track and Field, Gymnastics, Basketball, olleyball, Football, Martial Art and so on.

 The aim of Social PE specialty is to cultivate specialists and coaches in PE administration and management in the society with fully developed moral, intellectual and physical qualities. The main courses include Anthroponomy, Athletic Physiology, Physical Sociology, Introduction to Social PE, Chinese Traditional Regimen, Theories of Body Building, Practical Physical Activity Methodology, Physical Psychology, Physical Hagiology, Sports Biochemistry, PE Management, PE Research Methodology, PE Statistics, Theories of Sports Training, Theories of Health Education, Outward Development, Yoga, Gymnastics, Sports Dance, Tennis and Martial Arts.
