The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is one of the earlier established faculties of Anyang Normal University. The predecessor of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was the Department of Chemistry of Anyang Teacher’s School in 1978. The Department of Chemistry was renamed the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in January, 2007.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has now 42 faculty and staffs, including 9 professors, 2 associate professors. 15 staffs have obtained PhD degree. One staff member is an expert with outstanding contributions who receives Government Subsidies. 2 staff members are National Excellent Teachers. 2 staff members are outstanding teachers in Henan Province. 1 staff member is New Century Excellent Talents Support Program in Universities of Henan Province. 5 staff members are academic and technology leaders in Henan Province. 7 staff members are key teachers at provincial level.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has three subjects: chemistry, material chemistry, chemical and pharmaceutical engineering. Up to now, there are more than 500 full-time undergraduate students in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The School has 7 staff rooms and 6 research institutions affiliated with the university including the Applied Chemistry institution. The school also has 1 provincial-level key discipline and 2 school-level key disciplines, 1 teaching and research institution named the Engineering Technology Research Center.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering carried out the reform of school education and teaching vigorously and has made a number of education and teaching changes. In the past 10 years, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering obtained 1 national teaching achievement award, 3 provincial teaching achievement awards, presided over 10 provincial reform projects, compiled more than 10 teaching materials, obtained a large number of school-level teaching construction projects such as chemistry experiment teaching demonstration center, teaching team for main course of material chemistry, the featured subject for material chemistry, the quality course for organic chemistry, school-level key laboratory of applied chemistry.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering attached great importance to laboratory construction. At present, it has many imported instruments and devices such as a scanning electron microscope, single crystal diffraction, and XRD with a total price of more than 11,000,000 RMB. The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering paid special emphasis on learning-research-production integration teaching and constructed a laboratory for the labor and technical class. This laboratory developed and produced a special iron oxide made of bulb materials. For many years, the laboratory is the only supply source for three color TV bulb manufacturing enterprises in Anyang, Shijiazhuang and Tianjin and it has achieved good social and economic benefits.
Training Direction: cultivating high school chemistry teachers and specialized talents who have an overall development in morality, intellect, physical training and aesthetics, have a good mastery of basic knowledge, theories and skills in chemistry, and have the experience of doing some research work.
